1. How long has your shop been open?
We have been open for 2 week here in Taiwan but DAYA has been open for 4 years in Bali.
2.What made you want to work in the surf industry?
Being in the surf all my life and being involved in the surf culture here in Taiwan, I always wanted to be able to work in this industry, I want to give back to the surf community here, and keep the stoke alive.
3.So where do you see your surf shop in the next 10 years?
I don’t know where it would be, but I would like to be able to support the younger generation coming up in the future and give them support that other people can’t in their surfing career.
4.Have you always wanted to work in the surf industry of did you have other things in mind for your future?
Yes, I always wanted to work in the surfing industry, why not, I love surfing and working in the surf industry is the best job ever for any surfer out there to be able to love what you do.
5.Why do you want to support Betel Nut?
That’s a Easy question because it’s MIT (Made In Taiwan). Gotta support local businesses!
6.What have been the biggest achievements for you guys?
Going ahead and making the big decisions of opening in a pandemic, also it gave us extra time to make it perfect.
7.What have been the biggest challenges that you guys have face?
To be honest the hardest is to be opening during the middle of a pandemic and getting the shop open when we are allowed to.
8.What do you find the most challenging and most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing this project starting from paper till in real life and being involved in this project the whole time and seeing it completed is one of the best feeling ever.
9.What is the best piece of business advice that somebody has ever thrown at you?
There’s only one way to know if it works or not and you should always be passionate about what you wanna achieve.
10.How do you think the surf culture in Taiwan differs from different countries like the USA, Japan, or Australia?
We are young in the surf culture but we are original we are who we are we don’t copy other people, we created our own culture and that means something.
11.Best thing about Taiwan surfing?
Best thing about surfing in Taiwan is, perfect waves, empty waves and awesome people.
